Relationship of Helicobacter Pylori and serum Pepsinogen I in Peptic ulcer




Abstract
After we studied the incidence of H. pylori, the relationship of H. pylori and serum pepsinogen I for peptic ulcer patients 120 (gastric ulcers 54, duodenal ulcers 66), confirmed by gastroduodenoscopy, biopsy, between 1993 and 1995, in PNUH,
department
of internal medicine, following results suggested.
1. In gastric ulceer, H. pylori-positive percentage was 84% by CLO test, 76% by H. pylori Ab and average infection rate was 82%.
2. In duodenal ulcer, H. pylori-positive percentage was 80% by CLO test, 86% by H. pylori Ab and average positive rate was 82%.
3. In gastric ulcer, the serum level of pepsinogen I was 95.9%mg/dl in CLO test-positive, 125.78 mg/dl in CLO test-negative.
4. In duodenal ulcer, the serum level of pepsinogen I was 106.4mg/dl in CLO test-positive, 75.0mg/dl in CLO test-negative, but statistically insignificant.
